In the game you play as a Hunter that has been assigned to the town of Lunaris to investigate a string of unexplained murders, however, rather than reporting directly to your Enforcer, you spend time in town and get to know a few of the supernatural individuals living there. I think it was introduced to try to add character depth and interactions so the romance made more sense, but it felt out of place because it was a lot of just walking around without saying anything of importance or advancing the plot at all. Gus is such a goal. Hit Shift+A once in game and it brings up Ren'Py acessebility menu that allows you to enlarge the font or to use the sans type font. So yes, you can have a happy ending AND there are even DLCs post-ending with even more happiness for you to indulge in. Piper is bloody brilliant.
